  • We will continue working on the exercises for Chapter one in our text.
  • We will also have vocabulary games for our upcoming vocabulary test.

Wednesday
  • We will continue working on the exercises over the story on page 8.
  • Also, we will plan our celebration of el día de los muertos on November 1st and 2nd.
  • For this celebration the students can volutarily bring an authentic Spanish food item to share with the class.

  • We will be reading in our text books, the story on page 8. We will also be completeing the exercises that follow the story.

Monday
  • Today we took a formative exam over the vocabulary in Chapter 1. Students should be aware of what they need to continue studying for our quiz later this week. (I also know now what to better focus on)
  • Students were also introduced to their Day of the Dead projects that are due November 2nd. They have the choice of creating an "Ofrenda" or a "Calavera". One is a mini alter and the other is a saterical poem. They have rubrics and requirements for whichever they have chosen to do for the project.

  • Review greeting and discuss formal greetings

  • Plans for today include finishing the story from yesterday.
  • Writing the story together.
  • And reading the story together (in their pairs)
  • We may not get to reading it just yet--the writing takes quite a bit of time.

  • Today we reivewed some actions from last week: corre, salta, camina, toca, mira, habla.
  • Next we told our first story.
  • The students added in information by answering my questions. The stories remained 95% in Spanish. Plus Brad Pitt and Justin Bieber made appearances!
  • Neither class was able to finish the story, but the students' imaginations are going crazy for creative endings! I'm excited to see what they will come up with!
  • At the end of class, we reviewed what happened in the story. Also, throughout the story we stopped for several comprehension checks. The students explained in their groups what was happening, and also let me know whether they were understanding it.

  • We will need to complete the greetings video today.
  • Then we will review our actions, add abre and cierra, and begin telling our first class story.

el 26 de agosto

  • Yesterday we chose our Spanish class names, however, we didn't have enough time to finish learning everyones. So, we will finish that today.
  • We will review our first nine actions.
  • Then we will review greetings with a video. It's about an American boy that goes to Mexico and doesn't know any Spanish. He meets a girl, and she helps him learn greetings.

  • We didn't have time to choose our Spanish names yesterday so we will be doing so today and practicing with them.
  • We will also begin our first story focusing on mira, toca, habla, saca, corre, camina, and salta.

  • Continued with greetings (¿Cuántos años tienes?, ¿De dónde eres?)
  • Practice with music.
  • Choose Spanish names if time allows.

  • Today the students will begin working on the different sounds in Spanish and be introduced to the Spanish language characters that they don't see in English.
